There's an incredibly sweet and kind Poodle/Westie mix who finally deserves his turn for an incredible life. Ollie is about 8-8.5 years old and weighs 14 lbs. Ollie is still in the prime of his life as smaller Poodle mixes live to a very ripe old age. It's sad that no one loved this sensitive guy enough to protect him from the horrors of a high-kill shelter. The youngsters and puppies..being so new and cute..got adopted very quickly. As each pup left the shelter with their new family, Ollie looked after them longingly. His gorgeous eyes always seemed so sad as he realized he had been passed by again. Ollie sat quietly in his cage at the shelter...just waiting. He was allowed more time than the average dog due to his exceptional temperament - every shelter employee and volunteer was in love with Ollie! And so it was that Farfel's Rescue in Boulder, CO heard about this special and very well-loved guy in Houston. One of our rescuers asked for our help in saving Ollie's life and in so doing, gave a lucky family the gift of an amazing companion. We envision Ollie fitting perfectly into the life of a retired couple or individual. While he loves everyone, we think the calm and consistent lifestyle of very loving retirees would be great for Ollie. He also enjoys relationships with calm, like-sized dogs and brings his good will and gentle demeanor to those relationships as well. In return for kind nurturing, Ollie would be the greatest friend ever. He dedicates himself to his favorite people and is the most loyal of companions. He's a very low-maintenance and well-behaved guy who is a perfect size and temperament to take everywhere. It would be his greatest joy to ride shotgun on errands or accompany his favorite humans on visits to dog-loving friends. It would be completely beneath Ollie's dignity to be anything but very pleasant. He's a lap dog extraordinaire and loves nothing more than gentle petting and kind words. At day's end...Olliie will be the first to snuggle down to cuddle with his family. He's such positive energy and so wonderful that he brings joy just by being close. Ollie will be the pup of someone's dreams who wants a completely loyal and loving companion. He is truly a gift! Ollie is a non-shedding guy who is considered to be a hypoallergenic breed. He will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
