My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Alice!

1. What is your name?
My Name is Alice but my foster home likes to call me Ally or Al! I’m a survivor of the second largest dog fighting bust in history. My foster mom isn’t sure how I got my name but she does know that they tried their best to give all the dogs fitting names. 400 names is a lot of work!!

2. How old are you?
My foster parents say it’s only a guess but that I’m probably around 7. Due to the poor condition of my teeth it’s hard to tell. Chained dogs will commonly chew on their chains which causes damage and wear to teeth.

3. What do you look like?
I’m about 40 lbs of love, with a pretty reddish coat. My foster home says I have loving eyes and they have said I look like a sweet sealdog. Whatever that is!

4. What do you like to eat?
I’m currently on a grain free holistic food. My foster mom is pretty sure that I don’t need anything this special but she says it can’t hurt since I spent so long not getting the best nutrition.

5. What kind of personality do you have?
I’m a very quite girl, who is a little unsure around loud noises. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE people. I love anyone and everyone that I meet. I do take a while to adjust to new places and I’ll need someone who can give me love and patience.

6. Describe your perfect day
There’s only two things I need for a perfect day. Some love from my people and a walk. Feeding time and a peanut butter kongs are up there too, but mostly just people and walks.

7. What is your favorite toy?
I don’t really play with toys. I’m not sure I even know what they are for! I do like to chew the soft fluffy kind sometimes though!!

8. Do you know any tricks?
I know how to steal hearts!!! Does that count?!?! My foster home has really just focused on getting me settled into my new life, so tricks and training are on the back burner. They say I deserve to just be happy!

9. What scares you?
I’m kind of a scaredy cat! Loud noises scare me and because of this kids scare me. My foster mom says I’m gentle and trustworthy with the kids but their sudden noises and crazy antics scare me. So when the small humans in my foster home are awake and home I tend to hide in my crate, so my foster mom says I’d do better in a home with either older kids or no kids. I’ve NEVER EVER growled or anything like that, I just hide a lot and she says I shouldn’t have to hide anymore.

10. Do you like cats?
I’ve never been around any cats, so I’m really not sure!

11. Do you have any doggie best friends?
I like my foster brother Rico and I’m pretty sure as long as we are compatible I could get along with another dog. I may be dog selective, which my foster mom says means I’m kind of picky and only like certain dogs. I’d do best with a calm male most likely.

12. If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Oh, I’m not too picky! After 7 years on a chain I don’t really like to be outside so my foster home says I wouldn’t even need a fenced yard as long as people took me for walks and out to do my business. If I have love, food, and walks I’m pretty much a happy camper. Oh and somewhere fairly calm and quiet.

13. How is your health?
The vet says I’m healthy! I like the vet, I like the vet techs! I was treated for babesia, I’m not sure what that is but my foster mom says she can explain it. My course of treatment is over. I also have some teeth that may need to be watched later in life but right now they are just fine.

14. How long have you lived in your foster home?
It’s been the best 8 months of my life!

15. Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I love my foster mom and my foster dad and whoever else comes over that will pet me. I’m not picky!

16. Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
My crate. I love my crate, I really do. It’s my safe spot and I’m most comfortable there!

17. Where do you sleep?
I sleep in my crate! I know you might think I spend too much time there but I really am happy and cozy and feel so safe!

18. What do you love about your foster family?
I love them for giving me a chance when other people may not, I love them for being my path to a new life and for being patient and kind and not giving up on me.

19. What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
I’m part of the #367 dog fighting bust. It was a multi state bust that saved me and 366 other dogs from a terrible life. We were chained with minimal shelter in large yards of SO many dogs. TOO many dogs for anyone person to care for. I was part of that my entire life. So that was about 7 years that I spent on a chain. I was bred at some point in my life and had puppies. Probably several litters. I have some physical and emotional scars but all I ever wanted to do was make my owners happy. This is still all I want and for this reason my foster mom says I’m an exemplary poster dog for the American Pit Bull Terrier. I was raised under the worst conditions but I didn’t let it break my spirit or change my heart. I really want nothing in this world other than for a human to love. I may be selective about what dogs I get along with but I do not have one single negative thought towards any person I’ve ever met. I’m gentle, kind and loving. My foster mom says I need a home that will understand that I need time to flourish and get comfortable, a home that will just let me be a dog. I have little quirks like hiding in my crate a lot, but for this reason I’d do fine with someone who works a full day. I don’t like to go outside alone so I have to be taken out to potty. I was just so tired of being alone on a chain. :(

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they spend time in our homes. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
