My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This boy is a real sweetie. He loves being with his people and is curious about everything. He loves the outdoors and enjoys affection and attention from anyone. He is great with other dogs and cats in the home are no problem. He would do fine as an only pet but would love the company of another friendly dog to play with. Jody is a young dog approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 42 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

From the day he came home into my home he has warmed my heart and made me laugh with the silly things he does. He is such an easy going dog who loves everyone and just wants to be loved in return. He loves the attention he is getting or any attention for that matter. He loves being outside but also loves being around his people. Jody would make a great family pet and it has been a pleasure getting to know this boy.

Jody is a moderately active dog but of course he loves his down times as well. He hasn't really shown an interest in playing with toys but I believe it is because he doesn't really know what they are. Although he is friendly with everyone he does seem a little uncomfortable around young children and we are thinking he really hasn't been exposed to them in his past and isn't quite sure of their quick movements and such. He would probably be most comfortable around older children at this point. He does seem to respond to males better than females or at least he listens to them better :) He is wonderful with other pets including my cats. He doesn't bother with the cats unless they are taunting him. He has only chased one of them once but stopped as soon as I said to stop.

Although Jody didn't appear to have much in the way of formal training he is quite well mannered in the home. He doesn't get into anything that he shouldn't and doesn't counter surf. I have been working with him and he now knows sit but he is more apt to listen when it is a male that asks anything of him. He is crate trained and has no issue with going in his crate at any time. He is fine when I leave the home and doesn't make a sound. He is actually a very quiet dog in the home only barking if there is a good reason to do so. He is fully house trained and never has an accident in the home. He is almost fully leash trained but still pulls a bit. He is a hound so you have to watch that he is not left off leash in an open area. He is a great travelling companion and is excellent in the car even for fairly long trips.

Jody is a very loving dog with his people. He is a bit shy with strangers but warms up quickly and would probably do best with older children and a male leader as Jody is definitely a "man's best friend". He would love a backyard to play in and lots of love and cuddles.

If you would like to give this sweet boy a forever home, please submit an application for consideration.
