Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This lovable little lady is Cindy, a 2 1/2 year old pit bull with such a sad story, but we are hoping to give her a happy ending to her story that includes getting a great home in the end. Cindy lived in horrific conditions (as seen in her first photo) at a residence in Newark. When our AHS Newark facility was called to the residence about roosters and pigeons being kept illegally, they also noticed three sick, emaciated, dehydrated, terrified dogs living there. They were kept chained to trees with thick chains and no shelter except for a couple of broken down plywood boxes. After much dispute with the owner, our officers were able to get two of the dogs to safety. (the third was given to "a friend"). It's been 6 months since Cindy was taken out of that awful existence and she is now loving life. She is still shy when meeting new people and frightens easily, but it doesn't take much to earn her trust and once you do, she is very warm and affectionate. Cindy knows nothing about toys, but she does enjoy taking leisurely strolls and even enjoys off-leash time in our exercise yard. She gets along with most dogs but would do best in a home with mature, well behaved children and not a lot of commotion. She is very eager to make a fresh start in life and she sure deserves the best life ever, especially after all she's endured. Please come in and meet our sweet Cindy.....we know you'll love her.
