My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maxie is in a very temporary situation right now but still in urgent need of a rescue group with space for her, an adopter, or long-term foster willing to take her in. This gorgeous 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd/Pit bull mix was dropped at the pound by her owner because of landlord issues. A typical smart loyal shepherd, she was terrified and shell-shocked in the pound, the fear and betrayal about being abandoned in the loud scary kennel after living her whole life in a home evident in her eyes as she cowered in her run. She was clearly mourning the loss of her owner but starting to open up and trust others now, and this sweet sensitive girl is in desperate need of someone worthy of her trust and loyalty. She is still nervous around strangers and not comfortable around children, so will need a calmer adult only household to foster or adopt her. Please share Maxie before she gives up hope of ever finding someone to love her permanently...we haven't had any interest in her at all from her previous post:( Maxie was born and raised in Northern NJ- please remember how many local dogs there are being euthanized every day in our NJ shelters simply due to lack of homes. Maxie was very close to becoming a statistic had we not stepped in to get her to temporary safety, but she is still very much in need. Please email njwoof@cs.com if you can help her....she is already spayed and updated on shots.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
