My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Star is an extremely sweet, affectionate 7 month old puppy who came into Animal Control with her sister as a stray. Her sister has been adopted and now it's Star's turn to find her forever home.

She is smaller than she looks in her pictures, weighing roughly 25 lbs, with a beautiful coat and adorable ears. Star has a great temperament and loves everyone she meets - both people and other dogs. She has also been tested with a toddler and did wonderfully. She is being crate trained and learning how to live with cats and walk nicely on a leash in her foster home. Star is very intelligent and eager to please; she is quick to pick up on commands and has already learned Sit, Come, Leave It, Off, and Crate Up. She is also very treat and toy motivated and should be easy to train to do a lot more.

Star would love to be your constant companion or part of a family where she gets lots of interaction and maybe has another doggy friend to play with. She is a cuddler and seeks out attention every chance she gets. She becomes stressed and will cry if she is left alone outside without people or other dogs in sight, which is understandable since she's been with her sister her whole life! Otherwise she is a quiet, sweetheart of a dog who would make a great addition to many families.

Please note that Star is a young, herding breed dog who will need continued training to overcome her natural instincts to chase. She is doing very well in her foster home, but would not be a good match for adopters who are not willing to keep working with her.
