My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HI! My name is Mia. I just got my name even though I am 4 months old. You see I just came to the United States late Saturday night on the July 19th. I was born on St. Maarten Island. It is a beautiful place for humans to visit but not for the thousands of dogs on the island. It doesn't matter if you love in paradise if you are starving and living in the streets without shelter and love. That is how most my fellow dogs live on the island.

We are everywhere. Most days we go without food and water. On a good day we might find a fry or food dropping from a tourist or catch some fresh rain water in a puddle. On a typical day we just starve. Anyways I was living in the streets with my mother and siblings along major roads hiding and walking to find food. One day someone found me and took me to a vet hoping they could help me. The vets office was kind to me and provided me with food and shelter. But they only have so much space and us canines and our time is limited there.

Fortunately for me a canine lover came in to the clinic wanting to rescue one of us dogs from the island. She looked at a few of the animals who needed an immediate place and wohoo decided that I was going to go home with her to look for my forever home. I traveled thousands of miles and went through customs with what is considered a doggie passport and now I am a US citizen!

On July 18th I received all of my shots, was microchipped and spayed. I also have a health certificate. I needed it to travel here. Now I am ready for a new home with you! I am not used to all of the sights and sounds I am seeing now but I am getting used to living a normal puppy life and I love it! I feel so lucky to be in the United States! I am typically quiet and calm for a puppy. My foster mom is so impressed with how well I am doing with potty training as well!

If you want to meet me or have questions please call my foster mommy. She loves to brag on me and will tell you all she knows about her time with me. My foster mom thinks I am a greyhound lab mix.....(Honestly she is really a Heinz 57, the best kind of dog)

If you're interested in meeting Mia, email her foster mom, Chris by emailing ryrysma@hotmail.com. Applicants will be required to complete a pre-adoption form. There is an adoption fee.
