What do you get when you cross the family friendliness of a Lab with the height of a (mini-) Great Dane? You get one big, goofy girl!! There are some dogs who are so gentle and kind, it's hard to believe that someone isn't frantically searching for them. That's Kady's story: brought into a shelter as a stray and never claimed; week after week, no one at all looking for her. A girl as friendly and attentive as she must have known the love of someone special in her past, but at this point even she seems resigned to the fact that no one is going to come get her. Kady is a loving, intelligent, eager-to-please girl who has never shown anything but sweetness with everyone -- human and canine. She's happy to let the other dogs be the boss -- the role as "follower" suits her just fine! She is just about a year or 2 old and still gets her bouts of the "puppy crazies" every now and then, which is totally age appropriate and really pretty adorable to see her kick up her heels!! Kady weighs about 50 pounds, possibly with a little more filling out to do, and she is a very healthy girl. We are hoping that someone will see all that Kady has to offer and give her a home where she will be safe and blossom.
Sadly, we just found out that Kady is heartworm positive. Though it can be easily and successfully cured, the shelter simply does not have the money or space to treat her. She is otherwise healthy and not showing symptoms, making it heartbreaking to not give her the chance. There is no adoption fee for the adopter who will treat her.
