My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I remember my first car ride; I was only 10 weeks old. “Here, this is a good spot”, said one of the humans. I looked out the window, curious as to what they were talking about. I could see; beautiful big houses with pretty flowers. The air had a salty taste to it as it blew through the window. Looking out, I could see big birds flying overhead. I watched them crash into an endless body of water and pop back up again. What is this place, I wondered, and why are we here? We slowed down; then stopped near one of the pretty houses. The car door opened. One of the humans carried me over to a nice grassy area and told me to stay that someone would find me soon. I watched as the car drove away. I did as I was told and waited. As time went by, I was getting restless and hungry. I thought maybe I should see where everyone was at. I walked around this quite place for what seemed like a long time. Then suddenly, a woman ran by me. I said hello; but she just keep running. So, I decided to follow her, maybe she knows where to get something to eat. I was getting tired and couldn’t keep up. I heard a car slow down and stop. A human got out and came over to me. She said, “Hey buddy, where did you come from”. I didn’t know what to say, because I didn’t know the answer. She scooped me up into her car. She pulled alongside of the woman who was running and asked her if I belonged to her. The woman said no and that she’d never seen me before. So the woman in the car drove me around to all the big pretty houses. We got out at each house and knocked on every door, asking the humans inside, if they knew who I belonged to. No one knew! The woman in the car took me to her house. Once there, she looked me over real good and noticed the white flea collar around my neck. It had been there ever since I can remember and was getting tighter and tighter. The buckle part had cut into my skin already. I had tried to get it off myself; but every time I messed with it, it hurt more and more. The woman told me that she would get this off my neck, and to be still. Wow, she did it! It was finally off. From there, she brought me to some people who could help me get the care I needed. I am 6 months old now and my name is Silas, you can call me Si. My foster parents have taught me everything I needed to know. My trainers tell me that I am ready to have a family of my own. They also tell me that I am very smart and learn fast. They say that I would make a great therapy dog. I am very mellow and like going to meet new people. I always sit and wait to be petted. I am never pushy and always polite. I am in the process of completing obedience training and from there I hope to continue to use what I learn to help make a difference in someone’s life.
