My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Bud! I am a 3-4 year old beagle who was found as a stray in Ohio. Thankfully, Midwest BREW took me in and life is pretty great!

I’ve been living with my foster family for about two weeks now, and boy, have I gotten comfortable. At first I was really anxious and would cry and pace, but once I realized how good it is here (and how many belly rubs I could get by looking really cute) I started to calm down and show my foster family my true personality.

Also, something you should know, I’m COMPLETELY house trained! In the time I’ve been in my foster home I’ve only had one accident, and that was because it was raining really hard and my foster parents hadn’t taken me out for several hours. I’ve never marked in the house, not even once! Because of that, and because I do have a little separation anxiety (I cry a lot and get upset when my people leave), I am not crate trained. I’ve been given run of the house for two weeks and haven’t been bad or had an accident. I think I could learn to be crate trained at night, but I might get scared at first so you’ll have to be patient with me.

Now that I’m more comfortable my foster family can tell you that I am one sweet beagle! I LOVE to get tummy rubs and ear rubs and to lie on the couch with you while you do pretty much anything…but I’m a little spoiled and if you take up too much room on my couch (yes, my couch) I will get down and lie on the floor and pout.

I loooove walks and get very excited about my morning walk every day. I potty on the leash really well, too! I’m very well behaved for a beagle, I only got in the trash once, and I love my foster parents so much that I really don’t want to make them mad so I try to do what they tell me.

I get along ok with other dogs, but I care a lot more about people! At first I wasn’t so sure about the other beagle who lives here. She would get mad if I played with her toys and I would get mad when she got mad at me. My foster dad helped me learn who the alpha dog is around here, which helped me be less scared, and now we get along just fine.

I love the dog park, and while I do play with the other dogs there, I REALLY REALLY like getting petted by the people - that’s the best!

One thing you should know about me…I’m an accomplished escape artist. Foster mom says it’s no wonder how I came to be a stray, I’ve gotten out of my foster home’s yard three times! Once I moved aside the bricks that line the fence and dug out into the neighbor’s yard to chase all the bunnies and twice I pulled on a loose wire in a patch of chain link until I made a hole and crawled through. Ever since then my foster parents won’t leave me alone out there and I haven’t been able to get out again, darn! They said to tell you that I’ll need a really well fenced yard with no gaps or holes and that even then I can’t be trusted to be left alone. The second they turn their backs I’m at the fence trying to dig out again!

If you want a want a loving, medium-energy, ADORABLE, well-behaved (housetrained!!!) beagle boy then I’m your man! You should tell the people at MW BREW that you want to hear more about me so that you can rub my ears and my tummy every day!
