My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

http://www.valleydogs.org/minka.html -- Hi. Hi, hi, hi, hi. My name is Minka. My name means strong and I have proved that with all I have been through in my short life.

No one knows what my life was until I was I was found by a really nice lady about 3 weeks ago who helped me. She found me all curled up under a bush. I was full of this little things called ticks, my fur was missing in many places, my skin was really dry and flaking, my neck had a big cut on it, and I was hungry and thirsty and just a real mess. She took me into the vet and helped get me cleaned up, but could not keep me.

She contacted Valley Dogs Rescue and they helped me find a foster home. Once in the foster home, I was spayed, got my shots, had a blood work done to make sure I did not have tick fever (I don’t – yippee!) and had my rear declaws removed to minimize any injury to my back feet in the future. I look and feel some much better after only two weeks – I am like a new dog and ready for my fur-ever home!

I am a very sweet, but very active little girl. I go, go, go, and go all the time. I want to see what is going on, be where you are, hardly ever sit still, want attention and I love playing with the other foster dogs at my foster home. Even if they aren’t big players sometimes I pester them enough until they do play. And when one is tired, I simply go find another one to play with. Having a fun doggie friend to play with at my new home is a must as otherwise I just would not know what to do with myself when you weren’t home.

I am doggie door trained and getting very good at walking on a leash. I do okay with my potty training as long as I am kept on a consistent schedule. I am not 100% quite yet, but with a little more practice I will have that under control. I am inquisitive and curious, and I love to steal loose socks and pull on your shirt when I want attention. This sometimes gets me in trouble, but nothing I haven’t been able to get out of by turning on my “puppy dog eyes”.

I think I would do okay in a home with older children as I may be a bit too active for very little ones.
