I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
MATTHEW came to us as a wee pup that had been attacked by a bigger dog and had an eye injury..but recovered completely and in the mean time stole our Hearts. He is now about 14 weeks old and one of the smartest and most fearless little fellas that i have ever met. He has learned all kinds of tricks: sit, stay, comes when called, jumps though a hoop, crawls and shakes. He loves to go hiking with the pack and swimming in the pond on the way back to the house. And he watched a dog that comes to visit and fish, and in just minutes watched his fishing buddy, pick up fish and put them in a bucket and then did it himself.
He gets along with everyone here and has even learned to help transfer the horses from pasture to pasture. He is housebroken and doesn't mind a crate, but has graduated to sleeping on my bed at night. He does use a dog door here, but would easily learn to 'ask' to go out(he could learn to use a bell very easily and I AM sure he would think that very much fun)
I took him to a friends house(his first outing) who had a visiting 4 yr old grandson. He followed him everywhere, jumped in his pool and played with this kid's toys. I think he would enjoy some kids to play with(over 7 years) and through his ball. He definitely needs an active and adventurous family that loves hiking, camping, fishing and/or a co-pilot) He is polite in the house and very quiet. He does not have a normal bark, but rather a primal noise, just like the basenji.
So if you are an active family with lots of fun new socializing experiences and someone who appreciates a Very smart little cookie and will continue to stimulate this huge brain of his. I AM pretty sure he could coach the soccer team, balance a check book and clean out a closet or two. He will make the perfect Service Dog candidate and if he does not get adopted, will be started in training at 6 months. While he is a mystery dog, I think that he will mature at around 30lbs…but don’t hold me to that.
We maintain his well being with a natural diet of raw and cooked meat and raw meaty bones and his favorite is chicken drummies.
Matthew will only be adopted to a stay-at-home or work-from-home parent, because in order to continue his perfect housebreaking, needs to go out every 2-3 hours.
Please email us with your living and working situation, and tell us if you have other pets? kids? country or city living? and your idea of your perfect new companion,..also where you are located.
