My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Neon. I found myself in the Orange County shelter as a puppy but was lucky and found a home. Unfortunately, my family lost their home about a year later and I ended up back in the shelter. I was a staff and volunteer favorite there but I developed horrible ear infections and one day when one of the staff members went to touch my ears I nipped at them. I was immediately put on the euth list. Lucky for me, a great rescue saved me and I went to a foster home.

I went to my foster home, where they treated me for my horrible ear infections (which included staph, strep, and another bacteria) and to make matters worse, my foster noticed me limping on my first night there. Normally I could hide it well, but I was just so tired that when I woke up, I couldn’t get moving to hide it. Turns out I had two torn ACLs and a torn meniscus. My vet said my legs had been like that for so long that one of them was stable and didn’t need surgery, so we only did surgery on my left knee. It doesn’t look pretty but it works just fine now. My knees don’t slow me down at all. I LOVE to play! I love to run, jump, and play tug of war with my foster brothers and sisters.

I love dogs of all sizes, but I’m still very puppy like and sometimes I get too excited and need to be reminded that I can’t play with the little dogs like I do with the bigs. That’s rare though, normally I’m just perfect with everyone. My human foster cousins come over to play with me too and I am great with them, the ten year old and the eight month old. I love humans too. I pretty much love everyone and everything. My foster parents tell me I’m such an easy dog. I never chew anything, I don’t go potty in the house, and I can be left alone and still be a perfect lady. They also tell me everyone that meets me falls in love with me. I think it’s because I’m so gentle, sweet, and well behaved, especially in public.
