My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Did you know that I share my name with the best known gymnast in the world? Yes, my name is NADIA. Even though I will never receive a perfect score on the balance beam or uneven bars, my foster mom thinks I am almost a perfect 10. Let me tell you my story… I was saved by Rover Rescue back in 2009 and thought I had won my gold medal family. But just recently, I was “donated” to a local animal control facility because my family moved. I was not invited to go with them. I was an owner surrendered pet in a crowded pound leaving me ranked #1, but not in a good way! Rover Rescue heard about my fate and knew that my life was in danger. With their help, I was able to dust the chalk from my paws and get back on the vaulting horse, figuratively, of course. My outstanding performance has earned me the title of The Darling of Rover Rescue! I am a beautiful and agile German Shepherd Mix who is between 6 and 7 years old. I act like a young lady several years younger since I have kept a healthy weight of 66 pounds and a very active lifestyle. I enjoy long walks and romping in the backyard with my fellow foster canine siblings.

When it comes to my scorecard, my appreciation of dogs is my lowest mark- an 8.63. It took me a day or two to realize that the canines in my foster home were friends and not foes. We now get along just fine, even curling up on the couch together. I would still prefer to be the only fur-body in my permanent home or have dog savvy coaches to give me a slow introduction and help me adjust to other pets. On the other end of the spectrum, I receive top marks, a 10.0+++, when it comes to loving humans. I adore people of all ages! I am not shy, will gladly let you admire my soft tan coat, and have the sweetest kisses if you put your face in my reach. I am not a big slurper, but will give you delicate ladylike loving. I score a 9.75 when it comes to leash walking skills. I love to go for strolls and will pull only when I see something of interest. My car riding ability tops the charts - 9.99. I am a great passenger. I will sit quietly and am even content in the backseat. My crate skills are 9.94 as I like the privacy of my own space. I will lie in my crate even with the door open. I sleep in my crate without making a peep. My housetraining skills, 9.21, have earned me the privilege of sleeping in my human foster brother’s bedroom. I did have a couple of urine accidents when I first got into the house, but have had a very high success rate now that a routine has been set. My last points are given for being a watchdog- 9.75. I have the cutest ears that are my radars. They will stand at attention when an unfamiliar sound is present. I have a deep bark that will alert you of strangers or something I think you need to be aware. Otherwise, I am pretty quiet. My overall score wins the Top Dog Title.
