My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petey is the cutest little thing with a tough exterior. Throughout his life, this little man endured more hardship and pain than we can imagine. Rescued about almost a year ago from a horrific life, Petey now knows he can trust humans again. When he first entered our foster home, he came from a life of being thrown against a wall, kicked, whipped with a belt, hit, yelled at, and just terrified. We have no idea what kind of ‘humans’ would do such a thing. Petey is now between 7-10 years old. Due to his abuse, guessing his age is particularly difficult. Petey loves other dogs and cats; and, once he gets to know you, loves you too. He truly has come such a long way- a resilient boy. Before, he did not know how to play, laugh, or enjoy himself. Now, he loves to wrestle with his toys, have a conversation with you, and snuggle close. Petey is still uncomfortable being picked up by strangers, understandably so. Thus, he will need you to give him some times. Not to worry, though, if he wants your attention, he will gladly ask for it and let himself be known! Petey is house broken and pad trained. He also enjoys time in his crate. Some of his favorite things to do are perch, look out the window, and watch the world go by. Petey will need a special home to live out his life, one that is patient, loving, and gentle. He might be rambunctious and act tough, but he is really a gentle soul with more hurt in his heart that we can imagine. Consider adopting our Petey. It might be the best decision you ever make!
