Tank's Story...
Introducing Tank. The vet says he is somewhere between 8 and 10 years old, and was a recuse from a shelter. It is our belief that his previous home was with a dachshund hoarder or possibly a back yard breeder. Tank is neutered and has some skin issues from flea bites, but the bare spots are already starting to grow hair back. He was heart worm positive, but has completed treatment. Tank is a black and tan standard dachshund that is very affectionate, loves to sit in your lap and just cuddle, but is very patient. He will sit and wait for you to call him to you, especially if there is another dog around. Though a little shy at first tank makes friends easily, and seems to like everyone he has met since coming into rescue. Tank is very protective of what is his in regards to his people and his home. He shares toys well, but if a strange animal comes on the property he is the first one to tell them they don't belong. The same goes for a stranger. He has a big dog bark and growl and knows how to use it. Once he is reassured the person is okay, then he will sit back and watch. Once over his shyness he will be waiting for some lovin. He is housebroken, but he has not been around any children or cats, but he thinks the cows in the pasture are a great thing to sit and watch. He is fine with other dogs as long as they allow him to go to them first. Tank is looking for a forever home with either a single other dog or alone. He is with 6 in his foster home and does well, but he is the quiet type and prefers to be left alone to play and wander the yard rather than play with a pack of dogs. Tank is being fostered in Alabama and Transport can be arranged.
