Melvin's Story...
Melvin the Magnificent!

Melvin was confused and a little bit scared when he was left in the alley behind Wag n’ Tails. After he was brought into the Coronado Animal Care Facility, it took him a little while to overcome his fears and let his true personality show. But now that he has gained his confidence, we get to see just what a magnificent cat he Is in both looks and personality!

He is a sweet and calm boy who loves the quiet attention of people. He thoroughly enjoys pets and likes hanging out with you. He will nestle in your arms for the longest time, purring quietly as he shows you how much he loves you.

Melvin is also an intelligent boy and learned very quickly to walk on a harness and leash. We believe he thinks he is part dog – he walked around the entire block at the recent Fire and Police Department Open Houses and hung out with the puppy Ben under the trees.

This gentle boy will be a great addition to most any family. Come meet him today to see if you and he are a purrfect match!

You can meet Melvin at the Coronado Animal Care Facility any day between 9:00am and 4:00pm (except holidays). The Coronado Animal Care Facility is located at 1395 First Street at the south end of the Ferry Landing complex.

If you are interested in adopting Melvin, you must first complete a Cat Adoption Application and meet with a PAWS of Coronado Cat Adoption Counselor. Cat adoption applications are available at the facility or Cat Adoption Applications may be completed online.

If you have any questions, please contact the Cat Adoption Team online or call Bob at 619-840-9727.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Melvin, a Coronado Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Coronado, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Coronado.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Coronado already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Coronado breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Coronado paves the way for another one to be saved.
