My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LUCKY is a 6 year old spayed chocolate female Lab who weighs 80 pounds. She came to us with her best friend, Yogi. They are a bonded pair that MUST be adopted together. Although they have very different personalities they often groom each other and snuggle up together. Yogi is a black male that loves to cuddle! If he can get in your lap he’s in heaven but will settle for the floor when told “off”. He is rambunctious and loves to play fetch. He knows what “drop it” means but does need a reminder once in a while. He also gets very excited when he can play with other dogs. Pairing him with other rough and tumble guys for play time works best for him. They heel together on the left for walks but you need a to hang on or their natural curiosity gets the best of them! They love to ride in the car and behave well even for longer trips. They are crate trained but haven’t been using one for over a year. Yogi is very well behaved in the house. These two will greet you each day with tons of love and excitement but then will settle down quickly into whatever routine you set. They are beautiful dogs with lots of love to give. Both Lucky and Yogi know their names, and both are doing well with training. Both know sit, sit stay, down, and down stay. Neither has good recall so need to stay on their leashes for now.

Yogi can go from sound asleep to 100 mph in a nano second. Food is of interest but not a driver. He’s always up for a game of fetch or a good walk. Of the two, Yogi does better on leash and especially if walking without Lucky. He really enjoys swimming or playing fetch in the water. Given the chance he’d run and play all day with any pack of dogs. All of that said, he’s the greater of the two when it comes to cuddling. He’ll rest his head on a leg or climb right up on us to take a nap. If he can manage it, he’ll roll on his back in case we want to rub his belly. Five minutes after a visitor sits on “his couch” the visitor is just as likely to be given the belly rub opportunity. They are approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (8/07): Yogi and Lucky have settled nicely into a routine and feel like they have been at home here forever. Yogi is the more playful of the pair looking for any opportunity to carry around a toy in his mouth or play catch and then roll around with the ball. Lucky is still checking out the toys and once in a while will pick one up but she prefers to watch her buddy entertain everyone. They really do have great house manners although Lucky is a tall girl and likes to hang out in the kitchen on the cool floor. She will peak at what is for dinner but understands no and leave it. She is such a sweetheart! She will come into the office and lay on the dog bed for a while then come over and give her foster's arm a lick as to say "don't forget I am still here". If you are looking for a lovable pair of awesome labs, sweet Lucky and handsome hunk Yogi should be at the top of your list!!

Update (8/06): What a special pair of labs! Yogi is the most handsome hunk of Lab love you will come across. He loves toys and is perfectly content to entertain himself and loves his ball! Lucky is a sweet lady that loves to give kisses. She prefers to hang close to her humans and will lay at your feet and nap. Both are wonderful house guests and are house trained, do not get on the furniture and have not counter surfed. However, they do know how to beg. They are crate trained and are happy to snuggle into their crates at night without even being asked! They rode well in the car for an hour and a half without a peep. They know sit and are working on stay and walking better on a leash. They are good with dog savvy cats and other dogs although they can play a little rough. They have great appetites and actually need to slim down a little but do have very soft mouths and love treats, not so excited about the green beans and blueberries we use as snacks with the resident labs. Lucky and Yogi are hoping for a forever home where they can get lots of love (and some exercise) because they have lots of love to give!!
