Baxter's Story...
"My name is BAXTER, and I'm a big dog who's got a lot of love to give. I'm a Mastiff who's about three years old, and I ended up here at the shelter when my owner had to move and couldn't take me along. I'm bummed about it, but I know that there's a person or family out there who'll appreciate a wonderful fellow like me. I'm gentle, easy-going, lovable, and trained. I know commands like "sit" and "down." I get along great with everybody, so I'd be an excellent family pet, and I get along well with other dogs. You'll also be happy to know that I've been house trained. I like to go on daily walks to keep me at my best, and I walk quite well on a leash. I'll want to have a nice, big dog bed in the house, as I'll want to be part of the family. You've got to come visit me! I'm here at the El Cajon Animal Shelter, and they have a nice play yard where we can get better acquainted. I sure hope to see you soon! Love, Baxter" Kennel #24

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Baxter, a El Cajon Mastiff dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mastiff for sale in El Cajon, or seeking a Mastiff dog from a breeder in El Cajon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in El Cajon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a El Cajon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mastiff breeders who help with Mastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in El Cajon paves the way for another one to be saved.
