My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Loki is a little character that will easily worm his way into your heart.  He is devoted to his people and wants to be with them all the time.  He is a true little companion dog.  He would do best with someone that was home more often than not and who would enjoy a little buddy.  Loki is approximately 5 - 6 years old and currently weighs just under 8 lbs.  Loki is fine with other pets in the home and would enjoy the company of another friendly little dog.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

We came very close to adopting this little dog who we affectionately call our "happy shadow puppy".  He is such an affectionate little dog and loves to be with us all the time.  He will follow us around the house and it seems as though his tail never stops wagging.  He loves to cuddle and enjoys a good belly rub.

When we are out walking or have friends over, Loki can be a little timid at first but he greets everyone with friendly curiosity and soon warms to them.   The only issue we have found is with some men.  We are not sure what the issue is but with some men he will bark at them and really is not interested in their attentions.  We would suspect there was an issue with a man in his past that he has yet to overcome.  He is fine with children would probably be best with older, respectful children due to his size.  Loki gets along well with our other dog however our dog is ill and Loki will often want him to play more than he is able to.  Another friendly, playful dog in the home would be great for Loki.

Loki has quite good house manners although he would steal food if given a chance. We have been working on his training and so far he has learned somewhat how to sit, stay, go on his bed and to walk nicely on leash. Loki does have a mind of his own however and when really excited he seems to have selective hearing.  Loki is crate trained and is fine to go in his crate when we leave the house and will remain in his crate nicely until our return.  If we put him in the crate when we are home, he will start to bark after a period of time (when he figures it is time to bring him out).  We have been working on his house training and I would say he is house trained or well on his way as long as you put him out fairly often and keep an eye for the subtle signs that he needs to go out.

I think Loki would love to be with people who really enjoyed him and who was able to take him wherever they went and really make him a part of their family. If someone were retired or able to take him to work with them, all the better. Loki truly is a great little companion who is loving and loyal. He deserves someone that will include him in their day to day life. He will bring a smile to your face every day.

If you are looking for a little companion dog and think Loki might be the one for you, please submit an application for consideration.
