My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mia is a young, female Maltese/Terrier, approximately 1 year of age. She is a one of kind little dog with dark, expressive eyes and a very interesting coat of hair with some parts soft and fine and other parts with coarse hair. The color of her coat has two predominant colors, light tan and white. Mia currently weighs 9 1/2 pounds which is probably her adult weight. She is friendly, happy, and displays an independent spirit. Mia is content to explore the yard or will select some toys to entertain herself in our home. She enjoys fetching a small ball and likes to carry a toy in her mouth when she goes outside. She is house trained and enjoys being close to her foster family. Mia is good with other gentle dogs and gets along with both big and small dogs. She walks nicely on a leash and rides beautifully in the car. If you are seeking a mild mannered, active, young dog, Mia is an excellent companion dog for a family.

MIA’S HISTORY: Mia came to us when we received an urgent request to help her from a Southern CA shelter as she was pregnant and had a severe case of kennel cough. Shortly after arriving, her foster mom rushed her to an emergency hospital due to severe breathing problems. Mia had pneumonia and an emergency C-Section was required. Poor Mia was too ill to care for her one pup, but Chihuahua Rescue in San Diego offered to take her pup as they had a mother with 2 newborn pups. The Chihuahua mom immediately began cleaning and feeding Mia’s newborn pup. Mia remained hospitalized for a week. Six weeks after her hospitalization, she has made a remarkable recovery. Her pup remained with the Chihuahua mom and pups. Mia is now a very healthy young dog and ready for her new forever home.
