My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lola: Yellow female 10 - 12 years old (This is a guess from the Vet.) Lab-mix 60 lbs.

Lola was rescued from a busy intersection in the East Bay by a Good Samaritan who quickly called Lab Rescue. Lola is a sweet girl who looks like she's either been neglected in her home or been on the streets a little while. Lola is quiet but not fearful and seems so appreciative of love and attention. She has behaved beautifully in her fosters home and is cozy with their dog and cats. Lola has already been to the vet for a wellness check, blood work, heartworm test, shots, x-rays and a microchip. From the x-rays it did come back that Lola has had a previous ACL injury which she has arthritis in her leg and her hips. She is a dog that will need to be on medication for this but she still is very mobile and goes for lots of walks. She needs to gain a little weight and is making progress in that area. Lola is one of those dogs that crosses your path and it makes you realize why we volunteer all the hours we do. She is a dog that always has a smile on her face no matter what life hands her.

**UPDATE from the fosters**-- "Lola is people orientated and just a gentle soul. She wants to know where we are at all times and pretty much follows one of us around the house. She will lie down and get comfy on her own, but definitely likes to be with the whole pack. We have another dog and two cats, and she gets along quite well with all of them. The cats have come up to her face to explore, and she just leaves them be and doesn't seem particularly interested. She's a good walker and does fine climbing the 6 stairs up to our house. We've taken her on walks--she does great on the leash and no real pulling except when she smells something good and wants to sniff. But even then she's a gentle puller and listens when you encourage her to keep moving. She seems house-trained as there haven't been any accidents in the house. She likes to be pet and loved, and has been very sweet with guests who come over to meet her.

This one is a real sweetie. She likes head rubs, belly rubs, physical contact, and makes lots of inquisitive eye contact to see what you're up to. She hasn't been very interested in toys or fetch, but will roll around joyfully in a cool patch of grass. Absolutely no disruptive or destructive behaviors like chewing barking etc."

A very sweet, easy girl who deserves loving companionship in her Golden Years. All she needs is TLC, a couple of walks a day, a soft bed and YOU, a retired person or someone working from home. Lola is located in Oakland.

If you are interested in providing a loving home to sweet Lola, please contact Rescue Rep Allison at 415-806-2490.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
