Bernadette came to the rescue in May very pregnant and very skinny. She has since had 4 beautiful babies who have found their forever homes and now it is her turn!

Bernadette is gaining back her weight but is petite in size, not to worry she makes up for that with her big personality. Her ears stand up when you talk to her and she has the sweetest disposition of any dog you'll ever find. She loves to cuddle and take naps on the couch (or anywhere for that matter!) and seeks nothing but approval from her human companions. Bernadette loves to run in the grass and play with toys or other dogs; she will do best in a home with kids and/or another dog to play with. Bernadette comes to her name consistently and is easily corrected if she is doing something you don't want to her to do. She sits on command and is crate trained (goes in on command and keeps it clean). Bernadette is very food motivated and has endless potential to learn anything her owner wants her to. She has shown no aggression in regards to food or toys of any kind toward fellow canines or humans.

It appears to us that Bernadette was not well cared for prior to coming to the rescue. For that reason she is still nervous when meeting new people. She hides behind or under things when new people come into her foster home. It takes her a few minutes (and some treats of course) to decide that she is comfortable with someone new, men especially. Bernadette needs a little work getting in the car but once she is in she looks out the window or just lays down. Her only real vice is that she is still young so she chews on things she isn't supposed to if she is left to her own devices. If she is caught with something she isn't supposed to have she immediately drops it if told to do so. For this reason, Bernadette will require a crate when left alone.
