My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there. My name is Sweetie. I am about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh 37 lbs.
I was picked up by the pound as a stray after being hit by a car. I was very shocky at first so the pound wasn't even sure I would survive the ride to the pound (they couldn't get a hold of any of their vets at the time). I did make it back to the pound okay. After I warmed up in the car, I was actually alert, looking around and sitting up. The girl took my friend she had picked up with me into the pound and when she came back out, I was actually trying to move to the front seat. They were finally able to reach the vet that night and she was able to see me.
When I got to the vet, my gums were white and I was still probably shocky but my lungs and heart sounded well.
All in all, I could have gotten hurt way worse than I did. I ended up with some broken toes, some minor scrapes and a nice gash in my shoulder.
I got some IV fluids, a steroid injection and got sent home with some pain meds. The girl from the pound took me home and kept me for the first few nights so that I could get my pain medicine during the night. When I got back to her house, I drank a whole bowl of water and scarfed down the food in the pan.
I was a wonderful house guest. I got along very well with her other dogs and I did fine with the cat. I also was very good with the child in the house. My tail just wags constantly! I truly am a super sweet dog, which is how I earned my name.
It seems that I may be housebroken or at least partially housebroken. During my stay with the girl from the pound, I only had one accident which she said was her fault because she hadn't taken me out in over 3 hours and I had been drinking a lot of water.
I am great in the house. When you're home, I mostly just lay around sleeping. The pound does suggest that I be crated when you leave me at home alone.
I was very thin and it was obvious that I had just weaned a litter of puppies.
After doing a little research, the pound discovered where I lived , so they went out to check the conditions of the other dogs where I lived. Upon arrival, none of my friends had food or water. They too were very hungry and thirsty. The pound found our from the neighbors that our people wold leave us alone for several days at a time, only feeding and watering us when they were home and we were left to fend for ourselves the rest of the time. A few of the other dogs were skinny and so were the puppies there so the pound took all of the other dogs as well and we're all here now looking to find new homes.
Due to my neglectful past, I will growl at other dogs when I am eating if they come near me because I feel the need to protect my food. I did not go after the other dogs at all, but they didn't really bother me or try to take my food either. When I growled, they would just walk away.
If you're looking for a wonderful, sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me.

I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer.
