My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a sweet and kind Poodle Cookie is! At 4.5 - 5 years old and just about 13 lbs, Cookie is an incredibly sweet girl. We all know that when the wag starts at the tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...that Cookie is greeting either a beloved friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. Cookie is so warm and friendly that she always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a lifelong friend. Both humans and other dogs are drawn to Cookie for her positive attitude and kind ways - no human friend can keep from petting Cookie's soft coat (sorry about the sad and dirty shelter photo of this beautiful dog...we'll update with a photo that shows off this gorgeous girl properly) and enjoying her love affair with all the humans and animals in her life.

It is this love of just about everything that motivates us to put Cookie through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Cookie has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Rescued Pets Movement of Houston and Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very sweet girl's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of very quiet crate time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives.

We are seeking an adopter or foster to lovingly care for Cookie through this process as she become Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails quiet time with soft words and belly rubs. We will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she grows healthily worm-free.

We all really enjoy Cookie's playfulness that is never aggressive...only fun-loving and sweet. It's very typical for a Poodle to be a great and devoted companion - they're known for their sweet and kind ways. Cookie would fit well into a family with kids and dogs...as long as the people loved and spent quality time with their pets. She would benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes that included the whole family - Cookie is a super-smart girl who truly wants to please and great training will give her the skills to be an excellent adult dog. These type of classes will also bring out the great qualities of this Poodle as well as creating a tight-knit bonding with all family members.
Cookie is a non-shedding pup considered to be the most hypoallergenic of breeds. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.

Cookie will be transported to Denver on 8/8. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and devoted companion
