My story

Keiko (pronounced Kay-co; meaning “Joyful Child”) and Marcy are a bonded pair. They were adopted by a family from Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue, first Keiko, in January, 2012, then, followed by Marcy, in May, 2012. Due to very harsh unforeseen family circumstances, sadly, both dogs were returned to the rescue on July 26th, 2014, which represents over two years that Keiko and Marcy lived together in their adoptive home. The family was a family of seven, with five children ranging in the age of 6 to 16. Therefore, both dogs are great family dogs and fine with children. Both Keiko and Marcy are beautiful, sweet and loving dogs, through and through. They really love each other and I do not have the heart to split them up. I realize that most folks are not looking for two dogs, but these two are very easy together. Keiko is now age three-and-a-half and Marcy is about age three. Keiko is a Shibu Inu/Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix and Marcy is a Border Collie mixed with a smaller dog. Both dogs were originally saved from the Devore Animal Shelter on their last day.

Keiko has a gorgeous and unique coat coloring. She has the stripes of a Bengal Tiger. She is pudgy, and adorable, with a big smile on her face with the most beautiful markings and cute spots on her nose. She has a gentle and sweet spirit, and is a great size, weighing only 40-45 lbs. She likes to flip on her back and show you her belly. She does this to be loving, submissive, and sweet.

Marcy is a smaller dog, weighing only about 23 lbs., but probably to most people in the general public, they would consider her to be on the low end of medium. We think she is the PERFECT size for most any household! Marcy is a low-rider. That means she stands low to the ground and has shorter legs, indicating that she is possibly mixed with either Dachshund or Corgi. Marcy’s coat is very lustrous and jet black with white contrasting markings. She is much much cuter in person! She has a cute, petite face and cute little paws and a bushy, curled up tail!

Marcy occasionally likes toys, and is a bit more playful that Keiko, but both dogs are happy and easy-going dogs and gel very well together. They are a nice balance of resting and hanging out, and being playful, but mostly chilling. They are both calm in the house and hang out very nicely in the pack here at the rescue, never causing a problem. Occasionally Keiko wants to keep going over to a planter to look for lizards, and will kind of mess up the bricks, but she is obedient when I tell her to get away from there. She is basically sensitive and understands when you wish for her to do something and wants to please you. Marcy is basically the same way. Marcy never barks and occasionally Keiko talks. She says, “Woo woo woo!” Both dogs are potty-trained and crate-trained, however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment. Both dogs will need secure fencing but must both be indoors dogs (but can have outdoor access). If you are looking for two great dogs together, Keiko and Marcy may be your match!

Both Keiko and Marcy are spayed, de-wormed, fully vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Keiko and Marcy as a bonded pair, please contact Janet Cook of the Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. However there is no need to phone the rescue until you have submitted an interest via e-mail.
