My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MURPHY (4-5 year old neutered male)

Hello, my name is Murphy. Let me tell you what happened this morning in order for you to understand more about me...Murphy.

I got up at 6:30 with my mother and stared at the door wishing that I had thumbs so I could be more independent. My foster mom took me and my foster brother downstairs to get breakfast. I grabbed my squeaky ball on the way down. I keep them placed strategically around the house in case I need one.

Then we laid in the kitchen watching (and hoping) while breakfast was made. I got up a couple of time to get a better look. My foster mom made a comment about a movie called "What about Bob", but I don't know about that so I went back over and laid down. Mom was making pancakes and dropped the whisk on my head. I didn't even jump and waited until I was told I could help clean the batter up. I would be much more helpful if I had thumbs.

Then we laid down without begging while my foster parents ate.

We went outside and played "get the ball" for a bit.

Now, I am going to go see what foster granny is doing. She is very old and gets to ride everywhere in a chair. She pats my head. I really like her. I wish I could ride everywhere. I love the car.

My foster parents say that I am a very good boy. I do as I am told. I would do best in a home with another dog so I don't get bored. And LOTS and LOTS of tennis balls. I love to ones that squeak! I must be allowed to bring them inside because they help me to think while I try and figure out the mysteries of life (and how to grow thumbs).

I can't wait to meet you!

And now, I will nap or wrestle with my foster brother, until it's "get the ball" time again.

A side note from Murphy’s foster mom:

This is Murphy's foster mom. He is almost being completely honest. He is a 4-ish Golden who was surrendered as to what his owners described as extreme separation anxiety. He reportedly destroyed furniture and tried to escape the yard when left alone. He was fostered with us about 3 weeks ago and we have seen none of the reported behaviors. We have taken him off his Prozac and have not witnessed any evidence of undesired behaviors. He does crave attention, but he will also go and lie down when told. He knows sit and shake and down and out. He is house broken. He does not always surrender the ball when asked, but he has not minded it being taken from him. He is good with cats but will eat from their bowls if not watched. He chases squirrels without success. He is a very smart boy who needs a job to do and someone to keep an eye on. We believe there is a perfect match for Murphy. Murphy's forever home will have at least one person at home with him and a canine companion. Yes, a pet for your pet. Murphy also underwent surgery for bloat while in foster care. He has completely recovered and the vets say there is less then a 1% chance of this ever happening again.
