My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Isis! She's a gorgeous 4-yr-old red merle female; everyone meeting her for the first time comments on how beautiful and friendly she is. She has "one brown eye to see what everyone else sees, and one blue eye to see the fairies!" She has a very expressive face, and a great sense of humor. She plays nicely with other dogs once she's warmed up. People, though, she loves at first sight. With kids especially she's likely to roll over and beg for belly rubbings!

Isis is crate-trained and house broken. She likes to be brushed and, while she's not crazy about baths, adores being toweled afterward! She's learned to walk nicely on a leash (if there aren't any cats or squirrels around) and we've been working on "heel". She's been introduced to agility equipment, and enjoys showing off "over" on low jumps and the A-frame.

Isis has begun clicker-training, and she loves it! She's very intelligent and eager to please. She'd love to continue training, to give her sharp Aussie brain a chance to show off. She's learning to play with stuffed toys. She has no interest in chasing balls, but loves to chase dogs that are chasing balls! She loves going to the dog park for extra running and socializing with people and dogs alike. Give her a couple of good exercise sessions daily, and she'll be happy to spend the rest of the time chilling out next to you (she's trying to put her head on the keyboard as I type this...)

Isis is very people-oriented, the typical Aussie velcro dog. She seems to haves some separation anxiety issues. She needs someone who will be patient with her and work with these issues (she is a tad bit fearful at times). She's also made nervous by unpredictable actions, so while she loves kids and is great with them short-term, she'd be better off in a child-free household. A canine sibling might help for those times when the human family has to go out.

In addition to a dog buddy, the perfect home for Isis would have no small kids, no small animals (she'll try to climb trees to get a squirrel, and thinks cats were put here for her personal exercise program!), plenty of room to exercise, and lots of chances to get out and meet people. With her dramatic coloring and friendly personality, she's a show-stopper, and she knows it: she loves all the attention she gets when she's out walking!

Isis needs the right home to build her confidence and independence. Are you looking for a forever friend, a dog with a great soul who will believe you hung the moon? She's waiting right here.

Isis is fostered in the North Tampa area. 3/5/08
