My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable little girl is Luna. Luna and her 2 sisters were rescued from the country where they were found roaming alone. They were starving and very dehydrated. Thankfully they were found and taken to a rural pound. We couldn’t resist these adorable puppies and took all 3. Luna is a 4 month old Lab/Collie/Hound X and is going to be a large sized dog when full grown. Luna weighs about 25lbs right now and is growing big and strong every day now that she has a top quality diet and a lot of love and exercise. Luna is a medium energy pup that has a calm and mellow nature that will make her an excellent family dog.

Here is a little bit more about Miss Luna.

Luna has been lucky enough to share a foster home with 2 of her foster family’s dogs and her sister Ginny who was has just found her forever home. Now its Luna’s turn at finding her perfect forever home. Her day consists of playing in the yard, daily walks, rolling in the grass; toys at her disposal and all yummy treats to top it all off. Luna is learning new tricks everyday. She has mastered sit, but still has a little trouble with lay down. She is really good at coming when called. She is a really smart girl and in time and with some good obedience training, she will have all the tricks mastered. She needs a family that will continue her obedience training at a quality dog school where she can be properly socialized and trained and grow to be a well-rounded, obedient dog.

At meal time Luna is quite patient and will sit and wait until her food is ready for her. She eats all her food and usually will try to help the other finish theirs as well. She is such a helpful girl. She is not aggressive with her food bowl and we continue to work with this to make sure she stays this way. Luna is eating a top quality puppy diet and it really shows in her shiny coat and great body tone.

Luna can be bit shy upon first meeting new people, but in no time she warms up to you and she is your best friend. Luna loves to snuggle on the couch and is serious about her belly rubs. She stops dead in her tracks for a good belly rub. She is a huge cuddler and would love a family who appreciates regular snuggle time.

Walks start off slowly. Its hard to get the girls out the door but once Luna is on her way, she is very curious at every smell along the way. She needs some corrections here and there, but walks a little out in front making sure you aren’t too far behind her. She is also doing well in the car. When we first got her car rides were a scary thing for her and she would sometimes get sick. She is now more relaxed in the car and with continued short rides to fun places she will continue to get better and better.

We have exposed Luna to children of all ages, and she seems relaxed and playful. A home for Luna with children would be excellent for her and the kids. She is extremely gentle and loves cuddling at night on the couch by your side.

The most hilarious habit that Luna has is she is a shoe collector. She will bring all the shoes in the house to her bed. She doesn’t actually chew them but gathers them. I don’t think she likes them at the front door. And after she is satisfied that she has enough shoes, our socks aren’t out of the question to join the pile either. Once you put them all back where they belong, she starts all over again. And visitors aren’t exempt from this routine.

Luna is fully crate trained and views her crate as her quiet space. At bedtime, Luna sleeps in her crate. She is very good at going in the crate, but that isn’t to say that she doesn’t need a little coaxing from time to time to get her in. She sometimes will be found asleep in her crate during the day, willingly. She likes the comfort of her own space. Luna always gets a good nights sleep and is quite generous about letting us sleep until 7:00-7:30 on weekends! Good little Girl! She is also doing very well on her house training and knows that she is supposed to go the bathroom outside. She has the occasional accident still but she is only a puppy and to be honest, if an accident happens it is usually our fault for not paying attention at that particular time. She will need a family that understands that puppies need constant supervision in the home and to be taken out regularly so that they get plenty of opportunity to “go” outside. If we can’t be directly watching her she is either outside with her dog siblings or in her crate so that we can be sure she isn’t getting into anything she shouldn’t be in the house.

Luna is a very special girl, if she seems like the perfect fit for your family she will make a great companion. Luna would ideally like a home with a nice sized fenced back yard to play in. Another friendly dog in the home would be great for her, but if that isn’t to be then she will need some doggie friends to continue her socialization. She has met some cats and really couldn’t care less about them so she will probably be just fine in a home with other smaller pets with proper introduction. Luna will need a family committed to walking her daily and playing with her. She will need continued training as she grows and matures. She needs to be a loved member of her family and never be discarded again. Luna is a pup that will bond very strongly with her family and will be a most loyal and trusted companion. All she asks is the same from her family. If you have the time to take on a puppy and are prepared to do what is required to raise her properly and give her the attention that she needs and you are looking for a large, gentle , loving dog then look no further, this is the dog for you!
