Summer Shandy's Story...
11/15/14 update: We think that all our rescue are stars, in their own way. However, Shandy actually now is. She was picked from several boxers to appear on the bags of dog food from a major dog food company. She hasn't let her fame go to her head. She is still lovable, playful, and smart. She would be great with an active family or as an addition to a household with other dogs. She plays very well with others and doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. She is truly an exceptional boxer and already mature beyond her years

9/1/14 update: Shandy is still doing great in her foster home. She's full of life and fun but knows her routine and the house rules. She has discovered a love for tomatoes and enjoys picking them out of the garden. She gets a little excited in public places so needs a gentle leader to help control her exuberance. This sweet little girl will be an excellent addition to the right home (she needs lots of exercise).

Shandy is about a year old and full of puppy energy! She knows several obedience commands including sit, down, stay, and crate. She is not overly fond of her crate but she doesn't seem to believe in escape attempts. This sweet girl is currently living in a home with two male boxers and everyone gets along great. Shandy has loads of energy to spare so she would do best in an active home and a playmate would be a bonus for this girl.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Summer Shandy, a Springfield Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Springfield, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Springfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Springfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Springfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Springfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
