Felicia's Story...
Hello, hello, hello from Felicia! I’m a 3- 4 year old lady, who was picked up by Birmingham-Jefferson Animal Control, and I’m so excited that I might soon have a new home! Do you want a new furry friend? I hope you want a close furry friend, because I really would love to sit in your lap and let you scratch my ears. That would feel so good to have somebody care for me like that. My new doctor is fixing me up so I can look for a family all my own. You see I have heartworms. That means someone wasn't taking very good care of me and not giving me the medicine I needed every month to protect my heart from those things. The other orphans tell me I need to call an angel to help. I don't know how to do that. I don't have a cell phone but I can bark out my message if that would work. Angels are pretty good at knowing what dogs need, so I think they'll be able to hear me. Here goes! BARK-BARK-BARK!!!!! There, do you think that will work? I hope so. You can look into my beautiful golden eyes and tell me I’m a good dog. I’d appreciate that so much and I’d stay right by your side. I’m okay with a leash, though the people here are saying I might be a bit of a Velcro dog. But isn’t it a good thing to stay close to somebody you love? If you think so, come and take a look at me!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Felicia, a BIRMINGHAM Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in BIRMINGHAM, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in BIRMINGHAM.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in BIRMINGHAM already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a BIRMINGHAM breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in BIRMINGHAM paves the way for another one to be saved.
