Born 4/9/09 Sweet and Subtle Sampson: Sampson is a stunning black and white, 5 year old, neutered male. His coat is very soft and shiny. Sampson enjoys the company of other cats, dogs, and people (kid's included). He loves to be pet and will seek out affection. He does not really like to he held except for short durations, but enjoys when you sit down with him. He is a mellow fellow. He likes to play, but is not ranbunctious. He takes a while to adjust to changes in his living environment as he is more cautious than others. It is really just a matter of earning his trust and having a consistent and somewhat peaceful environment. He loves the screened porch and fresh air. He enjoys napping with his fellow cats and playing with the toys and kids.

About Gadsden County Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

When animals are rescued by the volunteers of the Gadsden County Humane Society (GCHS) they are placed in foster homes (more volunteers) where they receive loving care until they are adopted. We have no shelter. If you are interested in adopting, you may visit us and see many of the available animals at the PetSmart adoption center in Tallahassee on the 2nd and 4th Sundays or call or e-mail us at any time. Our adoption fee is $80. All animals adopted from our program will be up-to-date on shots, and spay/neutered. We have a high rate of adoption thanks to the efforts of our foster-adoption volunteers.

GCHS is in need of foster parents. We also need volunteers to help with fundraising events, publicity, photography, newsletters, membership and Petsmart adoption Sundays. Everyday, the GCHS gets many calls from people needing our help and in many cases because of funding and lack of foster homes to place animals in, we must turn down their request for assistance.

Know that there are many ways you can help! You can send tax deductible donations to GCHS or you can volunteer in one of the many areas listed above. If you love to work with animals here is your chance to do so. If you are squeamish about working with the animals, the other volunteer areas may suit you better. In any capacity you will be improving the quality of life in our community and easing the pain of the world. You will feel good about your efforts and you will make many wonderful, dedicated new friends. We look forward to meeting you!

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our animals are located in foster homes in theTallahassee/Quincy/Havana area. Our animals are shown at Petsmart in Tallahassee (on Capital Circle NE next to Home Depot) on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month from 11am-4pm. If you would like to meet one of our animals, we would be happy to make an appointment with you to do so.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption fee is $80. Cats must be indoors only (unless stated differently on the website) and cannot be declawed. Dogs require a fenced in yard. The adoption fee includes up to date vaccinations and a spay or neuter. If the animal is not old enough to have already been spayed/neutered, GCHS will be responsible for paying the spay/neuter fee at certain vets in the area.
