My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Athena, an approximately 4 year old, tri-colored Australian Shepherd who was found as a stray in Southern Indiana. She's blossomed into a confident, bossy Aussie Shepherd with soft, plush fur, which is a stark change from the nervous, skinny, tick-infested stray that came to Rover Rescue.

Athena loves going for walks and car rides. She's comfortable climbing stairs and loves to chew on water buffalo horns. Athena has started to play with squeek toys and comfortably explores her backyard. She will defend her pack from the vacuum cleaner & thunder storms but runs from minnows i the water. Athena does not crate well but has been left with her foster siblings loose in the house for approximately 4 hours without incident, so should be good for longer periods of time.

Athena is very submissive with people but has a high prey drive, so her new family should not have smaller pets(no cats, guinea pigs or birds). Athena does well with older children. Athena's new forever home should be dog savvy, as Australian Shepherds need mental and physical exercise to keep them from becoming bored. Any dogs in her new family should be submissive (she's excellent with puppies and younger males) and let Athena be boss. A fenced yard is also suggested.

Athena is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations including rabies and is house trained. Her adoption fee is $200.00. If you feel that your family would be a good match for Athena, please contact Margrit at 630.820.1584.
