Piper's Story...
Remote northern communities are not safe places for stray dogs. Finding food is a daily struggle and they are often rounded up and shot to control their population, so we always try our best to help them out when we are asked. Piper is a young petite female Husky of about 40 pounds who was flown to safety into Montreal. She was pregnant when she arrived and gave birth to six healthy puppies on June 11 who will be posted and available for adoption shortly. Piper is calm and friendly, and gets along well with the other dogs at the foster home. She had been temporarily staying in a home with a kind volunteer in the north before her flight arrangements were made and adapted very well to her new life here. She did not come with any emotional baggage and is sure to adapt quickly to a loving forever home. Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website if you love Huskies and are interested in Piper.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Piper, a Rigaud Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Husky for sale in Rigaud, or seeking a Husky dog from a breeder in Rigaud.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rigaud already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rigaud breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Husky breeders who help with Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rigaud paves the way for another one to be saved.
