My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

6/8/08 ChiChi has made her way to foster care in Maine. She is a petite sweetie at just 22 lbs - maybe the perfect size to fit into your family?

3/26/08 Here is some more info from ChiChis's foster mom in Puerto Rico.

The Chow is just over 3 years old. As you
can see from the photos she is just beautiful, like a little bear. She was left on the beach approx. 10-12 months ago. It is obvious to me that she was owned by people who had a house and a car, She now
jumps in the car, sits and puts her head out the window. She can be timid till she knows you but warms up very quickly with affection. I would definitely say she would be good with children. She tends
to chase cats but can be trained to tolerate them. Very friendly to other dogs. Loves to wake you up with a dance , a cute little bark and a nibble. When you come home she greets you like you are her savior! She plays on the beach with the ball, runs in the water but I have not yet seen her swim. I have not been able to train her to come to her name [ of course we don't know her name , but she always comes back].
She has much expression in her eyes and has a black tongue. Unlike the shepherd, she is a bit more independent. She is great in the house, likes the car, totally house trained, in very good medical health with all her shots and papers. I think she would enjoy children, loves to play and run. ChiChi is a loving, compassionate dog who truly deserves a good home.

It would be a true miracle if we could ever find someone who could
open up their home and their hearts to the 2 of them. I know that is
asking a lot but they are so good together. It is not that much more
work to have them both.

Thanks to all for helping these 2 "satos", which in Puerto Rico means
street dogs. I would keep them both if I could but I already have 2
big labs and there no more room in my car!

It is a known fact that anyone who gets a dog from PR is getting a
great best friend! Please help us save these dogs.

3/19/08 ChiChi the Chow Chow! She is a gorgeous Chow Dog, possibly pure-bred. She was found on the beaches of Puerto Rico with her buddy King and they've been inseparable for over a year. We know it's too much to ask that they might stay together, but we'll still ask you to consider it. Chi Chi is a little more reserved than her pal but she is very obedient. When the kind rescuers took them home they were both so happy to get clean that they got right in line with the resident dogs and happily took a bath! After a year on the beaches they were a little sandy, to say the least! The vet has checked them over and helped clean them up, and their rescuers have helped them gain some much-needed weight. Now these sweet dogs need to come to "the mainland" since the tourists ("gringos") will all be leaving and these dogs don't stand a chance.

Let’s show the true spirit of New Englanders and pull together and get the dogs home.

We'll update pictures soon, but let us know if you might consider one or both of these dogs who need your love and safety.
