Meet Melanie!
Melanie is an active, nine-month-old puppy looking for her special forever home. She’s overcome many obstacles already, including a very severe case of non-contagious, demodetic mange. Melanie is now a healthy 45-pound girl who is ready to enjoy the rest of her life!
Melanie loves to play, play and play some more — there’s no limit to how many toys and bones she can toss around all day, and she LOVES tennis balls. She enjoys going for walks and exploring new sights and smells. She’s make a great jogging partner! Melanie is crate-trained and does well in her crate with no accidents while her foster mom is at work. While she prefers to snuggle in bed and share your pillow at night, she does also settle into her crate quietly at bedtime.
Melanie currently lives in her foster home with two other dogs and has many doggie friends. She’s met cats and done well with them. Melanie would do great in a home with children and other pets. She’s learned her basic commands, but continued training is always encouraged for puppies!

About Canine Cupids
Canine Cupids is a rescue in Milwaukee that is comprised of volunteers who have been fostering for various organizations and volunteering at our local animal control. Canine Cupids focuses on Milwaukee’s homeless dogs, but will always help a dog in need when we can — regardless of location.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
