Rusty's Story...
NOTE: This is a courtesy posting for another rescuer. Please do not contact ARRF, as we do not know this pet personally. Be sure to contact the foster or organization directly from the information listed below.

Rusty is an approximately 2-3-year old neutered, brown with white Hound mix who weighs about 40 lbs. He is enthusiastic, curious, and playful. He knows sit and shake commands and is eager to learn. He gives affection and loves getting affection in return. He sits still in the car, and will settle right down after some good exercise. He is easy to walk, and his pint size makes him easy to care for. He was rescued recently from a San Diego shelter. He is doing his best and "almost" there on housetraining. He has all of his shots and is microchipped.

Because of his youthful exuberance, he would probably due best with older children (12+ years), and would do well with other dogs his size or larger. He also is fine with cats!

If you would like to meet him, please write to.dogsinrescue@gmail.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rusty, a Vista Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Vista, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Vista.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vista already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vista breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vista paves the way for another one to be saved.
