My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Wiggles was abandoned at the East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Shelter. Now, who exactly would abandon this absolutely adorable little cutie is beyond comprehension. It is a very scary place any dog, much less for a little 4.5lb chihuahua. Even though her little back legs were bowed and crooked, it was love at first sight and we knew that we would have to try and help this little girl. She is irresitable and we took her in without hesitation.
We brought Little Wiggles to one of our wonderful vets who help to support our rescue. They have agreed to help us repair this little baby, at a reduced amount, so that she won't progress to the point of not being able to use her little back legs or be in pain later in life. She is only approximately 2-3 years old, so now is the time to repair this.
Examination revealed that Wiggles has grade IV luxating patellas in both of her hind legs. Basically, her knee caps are never in place. Instead of keeping her legs straight, her knee caps have slid completely out to the side. Learning to deal with this and trying to compensate for having no working knee caps, is what caused her to have these crooked little bowed legs.

When she has been cleared by our vet from this surgery, we will start looking for her forever home. Her second surgery can be done with her forever family, with the donations we receive.
Wiggles is a huge favorite at our rescue, Friends of the Animals, Baton Rouge (www.fotabr.org), and we all want to try to fix this little angel! Your donations will go directly to FOTA, a 501c3 rescue. If you can help, any amount you are able to donate is GREATLY appreciated - no amount is too small. When you donate, please indicate that your donation is for Little Wiggles knee surgeries.
