My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This darling Dane is Buddy, a 2 1/2 year old boy that has had several homes in his young life, now he is looking for that forever home. Buddy came to us in July of 2013 from down south, when he was abandoned in a tiny pen in his owners backyard. Luckily a great rescue group heard that this Great Dane puppy desperately needed out of his awful situation and they came to his rescue. Buddy lived his life in that pen until he was saved and he injured himself several times trying to escape his awful existence. His eye was so badly injured that it had to be removed, but he has adjusted just fine and gets around perfectly well. Buddy came up to us to find a home, after being in a couple of foster homes. This gentle giant won us over immediately with his warm personality and within minutes of knowing us, he was offering a pawshake in friendship, and doing the big-dog-lean against anyone who would give him some attention. Buddy was adopted out but returned due to becoming protective, as most large breed dogs will do. We have come to know Buddy very well and discovered that he has an issue that needs to be corrected. He likes men very much, probably because that is who he bonded with in his foster homes, and does not like when they leave him. Buddy is smart and this can be corrected, so we are providing one year of training to the family that adopts Buddy. Buddy will need a home with people that have large-breed experience, and one with no children under the age of 10. He gets along great with other dogs and even is friendly to cats. Buddy is playful, energetic, affectionate, and so loyal. He just wants what everyone wants.....people that will love him and never let him go again. File#23505 7/26/13
