My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In the short time we have had Tipper, she has touched our hearts with her sweet personality and serene, easygoing temperament. Even though she is only 14 months, Tipper is especially gentle and considerate with the other dogs. She seems very willing to accept the boundaries set by the others and acts as if she were asking for permission to engage in play. At 24pounds, she is considerably larger than her IG foster friends but it looks like she is making an effort to play gently. She doesn't walk over the others when they are burrowed under blankets and backs off when told.
She is very curious about our interaction with the other dogs and instead of using her size and strength to push her way in and be pet, she will actually pet the others by licking them softly around the mouth, eyes, ears and tummy. Tipper is well liked by our less-sociable IG Lucinda. It has been a long time since Lucinda initiated play with another dog and not felt scared and intimidated. They play very well and because Lucinda is about 1/3 Tipper’s size, Tipper is especially polite, gentle, and tolerant.

Tipper's activity level is lower than one would expect of a dog her age. She likes some toys and chews but mostly she is a couch potato that will follow you everywhere you go in the house and find a comfortable spot to rest close to you. Because she's not pushy or needy and there's nothing she wants more than to be with her person and keep him/her company we suggest a home that will allow her on the sofa and bed. She likes other dogs very much and shows no signs of dominance or aggression, she seems to adapt to other dogs’ personalities. Her temperament is so sweet that she will probably do very well with children. She interacted with a girl at the pet store and was very friendly. We think she would also make a wonderful companion to older persons, retired, or someone that takes his/her dog to work.

Because she’s not that active, weight loss is a work-in-progress. Luckily, she has discovered the game of “fetch” thus allowing us to exercise her several times a day in addition to her walks.
Tipper walks great on the leash and is as housebroken as an IG can be. She rides wonderfully in the car both on the crate and restrained by a harness.

If you have a family history of type 2 diabetes do NOT consider adopting this dog, because Tipper is pure sugar.
