My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Courtesy List*
Hi, I’m Zoey, and I was wondering if you would be kind enough to help me. I was adopted from a Rescue three years ago by an elderly gentleman with cancer, and for those three wonderful years, I was the apple of my Daddy’s eye. I was his faithful companion and I went everywhere with him, keeping a watchful eye over him at home, sleeping in his bed to guard him at night, riding in his car and greeting customers at the store where he worked.

I made him laugh every day with my funny antics, like lying down on my belly with my back feet stretched out behind me like a rabbit. When he came home from work I always got so excited that I would run in circles then drop onto my back wiggling so hard I tie myself into a pretzel! When he laughed I’d open my mouth and laugh along with him – he always loved my ear-to-ear ‘Pitbull smile.’

When he passed away recently, I was heartbroken. I do not understand what is happening, and though I have a nice man currently babysitting me, I need a new home and a new family to help heal my heart.

ABOUT ME! My daddy says I am the sweetest little girl he ever met. I am a big smiler and a complete wiggle-butt. I love people, and my old family nick-named me Piglet because of the funny little grunting noise I make when I eat – just like a happy piglet. I am a red female Pitbull, 4 years old, a little chubby (did I mention I LOVE food?), housetrained with basic obedience lessons, up to date on shots and with my full medical records available.

I am also a hero dog! Although I am sweet and submissive with all people, a Bad Man with a flashlight recently broke into my Daddy’s yard while he was sleeping alone in the house at night. I sensed this man was up to no good and I woke up my family by barking like I’ve never barked before! I kept barking until my Dad came out and challenged the man, who took one look at me and ran away. Everyone was so proud of me!

Now I am a young, strong dog with a lot of energy, so I must have a high-fenced yard and regular walkies to burn off steam. I am great with medium and large dogs but as with many Pitbulls, I have what my Dad called my ‘Small Fluffy Animal Prey Drive.’ I’m told I must not be housed or let off-leash near cats or small dogs under 20lbs (spoilsports, I say). I also love to eat shoes and twisty ties. That’s my full disclaimer.

So that’s it folks. If you open your heart to me, I will be your family, your protector, your best friend and your clown. I can’t wait to hear from you.
