My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 8 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 70 lbs
Variety: Bench

From Ole's foster parents: It is our pleasure to introduce you to Ole, a handsome, low-key, laidback kind of guy. His eyes make it clear that he enjoys any attention and all belly rubs that come his way, but he's never been pushy or demanding. He will settle in by your feet or will be happy to join you on the couch. Ole's manners are very gentle; he softly takes the treat from your hand as if to say, "Oh, is this for me?" He lets us take his food bowl at any time. He doesn't quite seem to know what to do with a stuffed toy, but he loves his Kong and his tennis ball.

Ole is a happy and confident guy who seems to just enjoy life. Among his favorite activities are exploring the outdoors, taking daily walks, and hanging out with his people without being overwhelmed by young children. There were four kids under the age of five in Ole's previous home, and that was a stressful situation for him.

Ole has had some excellent training. Though he has good leash manners, we take daily walks off leash on a quiet gravel road. Ole knows his Heel command well, as well as a variety of others: Sit, Down, Stay, Shake, and Roll Over. He has good recall, which makes taking a walk much more fun for us -- he can run off leash and we can keep him safe because he comes when he is called. Ole does enjoy his time outside, so he would no doubt like a yard he could call his own.

Ole is extremely well mannered. He rarely barks, but is not afraid to walk over to us to get a little attention. He enjoys the couch, but he is also fine with just being with us in the same space. We have not crated him, and he sleeps in the house with our other dogs.

At eight years old, Ole is in really good shape. We have noticed that he is very aware when his back or hips are touched. His former vet noted that Ole has some mild arthritis, though it is not causing him a major problem. A supplement for his hips and joints might be a good option for him. Right now, Ole does plenty of running during our daily walks, so he is still an active boy.

Ole has made a lasting impression on us. He has made friends with both of our resident Springers, which is an accomplishment. One of those dogs can be a bit possessive of her owner, and the second was not well socialized as a young dog. In other words, if we were looking for a third dog, Ole would already be ours! We really love this guy, and we're looking for a Forever Family that will feel the same way about him that we do. If you're ready to give Ole the care, attention, and affection he so deserves, please contact his case managers at the e-mail address below.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Ole.
