My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aidan means "Little Fire" and boy does that name fit this cutie! Aidan is an 8 month old purebred male Border Collie. He has the most amazing temperament, and comes very, very close to being the "perfect dog"!! Aidan loves all the people he has met so far and is always happy to go up to anyone, whether he knows them or not, for a cuddle. Right now, Aidan is being fostered at a boarding kennel where he gets to play with several other dogs a day. He LOVES play time, and especially loves to have the other dogs chase him around the play area. We have not had Aidan tested with cats, yet.

Like most Border Collie puppies, Aidan is always going, and is ready to run around some more after a quick nap. However, he isn't incredibly intense and doesn't seem to have a lot of herding instinct, just lots of energy. With his energy and athletic build, Aidan is an AWESOME agility prospect. He does show some interest in toys, but doesn't really understand what he's supposed to do with them yet.

Although he is naturally sweet tempered and just a very good boy, Aidan does not have any manners yet. He does pull pretty hard on a leash if he wants to get somewhere and you aren't going fast enough. He also likes to jump on people to get attention. We will be working on this with him, and he is a very smart boy, so he should learn his manners very fast. Aidan learned his name within a couple of hours and is working on basic commands!

Aidan absolutely needs a 6 foot fence or an invisible fence. He can easily, and has, jumped a four foot fence, and if there is something on the other side of the fence that he is interested in, the fence will not hold him back! Aidan also needs to be watched if his new home were to have a deck, because he has tried to jump over deck railings. He could seriously injure himself doing this if the deck was high enough off the ground!
