My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet amazingly friendly and totally cool Melvin! Mel was rescued by his foster from a high kill shelter in Henry County Georgia ; where he had been for a while and he was totally out of time. Melvin’s foster mom and dad seen him while volunteering at the shelter, spent time with him and knew what an amazing dog he was- so were his advocate and saviors to break him out. Elmer is 9-10 months old and weighs 54lbs. He just loves everyone! Georgia and Washington Foster moms both have only wonderful things to say about their special boy Melvin! He is just such a fun and social guy. He really enjoys the outdoors and loves to be with you. Melvin knows his basic commands and is so very affectionate! He will make a great running or walking partner or would love to head up the hill for a hike or to the lake for a swim. He is a total "pleaser"; he listens wells and takes correction well. Foster's say he has a very easy going temperament. He is awesome in his crate, perfectly house-trained and great on the leash. He loves all other resident dogs and other fosters, big and small! Melvin LOVES his toys, loves to play and plays very well with others. She says he is not dominant at all. He has been good around pre-teen grand kids and younger. Melvin would love to accompany you to a training class to perfect his skills. He's does well with cats and other animals in the house too. Melvin is very smart learned to sit and stay very quickly. He would love a fenced yard and a doggie sibling would be fine with him! Put a pack on his back and he’d love to help you backpack too! Melvin would be the happiest at the dog park or with neighbors play dates as he has energy galore. Though he settles nicely in the house and when told so chills and mellows!! Melvin is crate trained, and is great in his crate, but foster mom has left him unsupervised without incident too. Elmer would love some structured play like agility or an obstacle course! He will make a great exercise partner and hiking adventure buddy. He loves rides in the car, long walks, loves the water and beach time would be super new and fun for him. He finds tennis balls on his walks and carries them around the neighborhood! Elmer is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $400. Any questions, please email Pam at brenda at brenbreuer@hotmail.com or for an adoption application, go to www.raincityrescue.com and choose foster/adopt tab. Don't miss out on this most adorable and happiest young boys! We’d love for you to meet him right away!
