Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi y’all. Beg your pardon, but I would like to introduce myself. My name is DIXIE. I am a southern gal, but I was born above the Mason-Dixon Line. My childhood was spent in Southern Indiana. Just recently, I became a true Yankee when Rover Rescue saved me from a high kill shelter. Yes, ma’am , I was in a terrible fix. I was a stray dog who was in really poor shape. Now that I am living in Illinois with a terrific foster home, I have really started to blossom. Grab a sweet tea while I tell you about myself. I am a 2 year old Rat Terrier/ Chihuahua Mix. Oh honey, you should see my adorable coat. It is white with black patches and I have the tallest ears that stand at alert. I am just a little thing, no bigger than a junebug on a log. I weigh in at just 8 pounds. Due to my dainty size and my princess attitude, I would be a great fit for family members with respectable children 12 years and older or maybe even an all adult household. You see darlin’, I am very loveable and enjoy being held and cuddled, but I do prefer attention on my terms. I do not appreciate being manhandled and I can get very skittish when I am meeting new people or unfamiliar dogs. Once I know that you will not hurt me and will treat me kindly, we will become like two peas in a pod. If I feel scared or threatened. I have been known to let my displeasure be known. My foster family loves the fact that I do not have accidents in the house. I will let you know when I need to go outside by going to the door. I am also crate trained. I have been told that I have good smarts, as I know how to sit, come when I am called and walk nicely on a leash. I enjoy going for car rides and make an ideal passenger. I do have a funny little quirk. I like to crawl on my tummy like a GI commando and can make it all the way across the room. Ain’t that the berries! Because of my quiet personality and small size, I would make a great apartment or condo dweller. I sure do like companionship and would love to have someone who is home a majority of the day. I promise there is nothing sweeter than the heart of DIXIE. To find out more information on this southern belle, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee for DIXIE is $200 and includes up to date vetting and a certificate for a free microchip. Call now and bless your heart!
