Milton's Story...
Big fan of: People of all ages, dog treats, taking short walks, chewing on toys, riding in the car, lounging outside in the sun, and cuddling.

Not a fan of: Being alone for long periods of time. Because Milton has some medical special needs, he does best in an environment where there is someone around a lot to keep an eye on him. Plus, he loves snuggling and being at your side!

A little more: Milton came to PAWS as a stray from Animal Control in June. He weighs about 26 pounds and is nearing his third birthday. Upon arriving, Milton was diagnosed with immune-mediated meningoencephalitis, which caused seizures and loss of vision. After some time in a foster home and help from a veterinary neurologist, Milton’s condition is now well-managed. He takes several medications daily, and even though his vision is limited, he gets around quite well.

Dream home: This little angel is looking for a dog-lover who has the time and patience to accommodate his needs. In return, you’ll have a lifetime of love and devotion!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Milton, a Chicago Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
