Boomer's Info...

Boomer's Story...
Name: Boomer
Color: Blue and White Tick
Breed: Bluetick Coonhound
Gender: Male
Age: 5 Years
Boomer is a sweet boy looking for a home experienced with hounds.
Big fan of: SMELLING! Boomer is a true hound and loves to follow his nose. It is very important that Boomer is taken on long walks every day to help him satisfy his need to smell new smells. The yard will only vary so much in smell so Boomer will get incredibly bored if that's his only chance to use his sniffer. Hounds do not often make good off leash dogs but with some recall training, Boomer would enjoy some trips to the dog park.
Not a Fan of: Allergies. Boomer came into the shelter with a poor hair coat, likely due to either flea or food allergy. This can be helped and prevented with regular flea treatment and a high-quality diet without corn, grain, soy or by-product meal.
Special Features: Boomer is proud of his age and thinks you should be too. If you are over 55 years of age, please ask about our “Young at Heart” Adoption Special which applies to animals over 5 years of age.
Dream Home: Hounds are known for following their noses and sometimes that means following it right outside of your yard. Boomer will not be the kind of dog you can leave in the backyard unattended as he will surely escape to find something that smells more interesting. He enjoys the company of other dogs and wouldn't mind living with an equally mellow canine. Boomer has lived with cats before and could do so again, so long as the cat is a confident one. Children over 10 would be alright with Boomer, so long as they are respectful of him and familiar with large dogs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Boomer, a Bellingham Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Coonhound for sale in Bellingham, or seeking a Coonhound dog from a breeder in Bellingham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bellingham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bellingham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Coonhound breeders who help with Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bellingham paves the way for another one to be saved.
