Coco is a special guy. He's a nice medium size with a beautiful markings, definitely a mix of maybe Lab/Terrier & Dobie.
He knows how basic commands, gets along with other dogs, and doesn't seem that interested in the cats. We received him as a quarantine dog after he bit his owner. He was left at Animal Control when his quarantine period was over. He was super stressed in the kennel environment and obviously didn't trust any of us. After lots of hot dogs we were finally able to walk him and let him around other dogs. He will bite when he feels threatened, and needs a warming period with new people. Due to his history, we do not recommend him for a family with children, or to a household with a lot of visitors. He spends most of his days out on one of our play yards with 3 or 4 other dogs, both male & female. He enjoys his walks, and likes to play. Anyone interested in Coco Pops should plan to come out for several visits before considering adoption. Be sure to ask one of our experienced volunteers or our Animal Control Officer to introduce you to Coco Pops.
Del Norte County Animal Control is located in rural Crescent City, CA (a tiny coastal city on the OR/CA border). We have a very small shelter with small indoor 3x6 kennel runs, low foot traffic, odd adoption hours and it rains a lot which means the dogs can’t come outside and play. Please consider making a difference in a dog’s life and adopt from our shelter!
We are open Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday.
