Emma's Story...
Energetic Emma is a real sweetheart! She and her companions Faye and Becky came to CAS in spring 2014 from UMASS. These female boer goats had been part of a breeding program for animal husbandry and veterinary students. When one of the students found out they were considered "spent" and slated for auction, she rescued Emma along with 2 other adult females and 2 babies ( who have since been adopted).

These days Emma enjoys basking in the sun, grazing on the hillside and frolicking with her herd. She is a real lovebug who is very used to people and craves affection. Emma and her friends Faye and Becky would love to come home with you! If you have a herd of your own you are looking to add to, or are interested in starting a small herd of your own then Emma and friends are perfect for you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emma, a Saugerties Goat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Goat for sale in Saugerties, or seeking a Goat from a breeder in Saugerties.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Saugerties already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Saugerties breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Goat breeders who help with Goat rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Saugerties paves the way for another one to be saved.
