RESCUE IS THE SOLUTION, NOT THE PROBLEM

ADOPTED ON 06/06/15 - Venus’ story starts when she was picked up by animal control, her struggle from that point on was as painful and difficult as she had to overcome abandonment, neglect and abuse. Rescue dogs that suffer from abuse and neglect and those that love and value our animals try to understand, however, how do you understand violence? How do you comprehend the types of conditions the dog may have been forced to suffer? You can’t.

Venus was rescued from the dog pound by a southern volunteer that saw the loving dog that just wanted a chance. As she walked with her rescuer to her truck, not knowing what was next, Venus could not comprehended the significance of her new journey. We can only guess that she had lived in a world consumed by terror and pain and was now surrounded by angels, who were kind to her, who stroked her gently and talked softly to her. She was surrounded with love and kindness and healing mercies. She didn't realize that she not died and gone to heaven but soon she would realize that it will only get better.

FAMILY - Venus’s is a fantastic dog, her foster mom says a good day is when she can take her for a long walk; she is an ideal companion and will sit quietly with her while she gets her head stroked. She appreciates the value of her new life now, she lovingly interrelates with the family and interacts with everyone. She greets all with a wag, smile and if she can get it in, many doggie kisses.

DOGS - She loves to kiss her foster siblings, she is not a dominant dog. She is full of life in her fenced in yard, she likes to run and play with her foster siblings and does not mind getting a little dirty. One of her siblings is a pitbull and she gets along fabulous because of her excellent social skills. Her mom tells us fondly that she is the most laid back relaxed dog that she has truly ever had.

MISCELLANEOUS – Venus has never been around cats but she likes to run with the flying birds. She is outside in her fenced yard and it has been our experience that dogs that live outside in the south, do not have accidents in the house because they are used to going outside. They transition real well living in a home and do not touch anything because they don’t know what it is, they may be curious and smell it but they have never been destructive. In her foster home she is not crated however, dogs that have come from the city pen are in their crate 24 hours a day 360 days a year are well-behaved in a crate and being crated is a walk in the park for them.

Venus walks well on a leash, responds terrific to corrections and is cautious when she hears new noises; but she will recover if you just stop for a minute and let her listen, she will look at you and see that you are not concerned and then be fine. You NEVER pull a dog when they freeze and lock their legs, you let your leash loose and you will be surprised that in 30 seconds the dog will move forward. They will remember that sound and most important, remember that NOTHING bad happened.

PERSONALITY - Our southern partners have fostered many dogs and Venus’s mom tells us with her expertise that out of all the dogs she has fostered, Venus is the best behaved, she is not a jumper, and she does not bark relentlessly. She does like to dig in the yard a little bit but with a little correction she will stop or many pet owners get a sand box with a cover and put their toys in the sand box, sprinkle them with a little bacon grease and your dog with entertain herself for hours. All your family and friends will want to watch your dog run to their sand box and play with their toys, you might even want to charge admission.

Venus’s rescue story is not known and we don’t really want to know what happened, however, it is difficult for us to understand what she when through. When Venus got to her foster home, her foster mom looked closely at her and noticed that her jaw was a little crooked. She has no problem eating, drinking and she is in not pain. The visualizations in our head of what could have happened make us feel sad that she suffered, not to mention that she was skin and bones, frightened, full of parasites and needing some help.

PERFECT HOME – A perfect home for Venus would be a family that will give her the tender love that she deserves. It would be great if they had a fenced in yard or an active family that will run her daily would be good. If you are a family that has a dog and are gone long hours, she would be a perfect companion. She does love people so if you work from home she would love being with you all day. Her mom feels that she would do well with children over the age of 7, however, this must always be supervised by the parents. The misconception that a dog must be good with children is totally misguided and a child’s behavior can’t be left up to a dog to tolerate. Many dogs just don’t understand children and a dog should not be left to deal with children alone. You can ask another adult to stay in the room to supervise, take the dog with you, and put the dog behind a gate or crate – so many solutions.

Venus is a true Velcro dog, highly intelligent and stunningly beautiful; this affectionate dog will make a superb companion for the right family. She will make some lucky family a great new addition. It goes without saying that she is a really special dog that we are totally committed to finding the perfect forever home and to giving her nothing but the best. Our rescue works from our hearts to our dog’s hearts – we are dedicated to making ideal matches, Venus deserves nothing less. We truly are looking for a home where she can be savored for the special German Shepherd she truly is . . . where there will be many happy memories in her future! We are all proud to be part of her re-homing and ever grateful for wonderfully warm adopters willing to consider making a difference to this very deserving dog.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!
